CharactCred (the "Platform", "we") is a character assessment and certification platform based on the VIA Character Strengths framework, offering a free 24-character-strength test and paid character report services. The platform is operated by a group of educators and is not a medical, psychological, or legal service provider.
The character test provided by this platform is based on the VIA Character Strengths classification and is a self-assessment tool. Results are for reference only. This test is not a medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, or clinical tool, and cannot replace the advice of a qualified psychologist, psychiatrist, or counselor. The accuracy of test results depends on the honesty of the user's responses. Users needing professional psychological or mental health support should seek help from qualified professionals.
Character reports (including Quick Overview, Basic Report, Certified Report, and Premium Report) are for personal reference, study assistance, and self-understanding only. The platform does not guarantee that any report will be accepted or recognized by any specific school, university, employer, or institution. Reports do not constitute a guarantee of admission, employment, scholarship, or any opportunity. Users should independently confirm whether their target institution accepts character reports as supporting documents.
Users agree to: (a) provide true and accurate personal information; (b) complete the test honestly without false or misleading responses; (c) not forge, tamper with, or misuse character reports or certification numbers; (d) not use reports for illegal or fraudulent purposes; (e) not unauthorizedly share, resell, or copy platform content. The platform may refuse service to users who violate these responsibilities and may cancel issued reports or certifications.
The free test carries no charge. Character reports are priced by the selected tier, with fees clearly shown at checkout. Payment is processed by a third-party payment service (Stripe); the platform does not directly store users' credit card information. Once payment is completed, fees are non-refundable except as otherwise provided in these terms. Fees waived by test promo codes apply only to the platform's designated test mode.
Because character reports are instantly generated digital content services, once payment is completed the service is considered delivered and refunds are generally not granted. If a platform system error prevents you from receiving a report, please contact the platform within 7 days of payment; after verification, the platform may regenerate the report or process a refund at its discretion. Refund requests due to user-side reasons (including but not limited to providing incorrect information, not completing the evidence collection process, or selecting the wrong report tier) may be refused.
Certified and Premium reports involve third-party institutions (such as schools, NGOs, employers) filling out behavioral evidence forms. The platform only provides the collection tool and process and is not responsible for third-party assessment results. Whether a third party participates and when they complete the assessment are beyond the platform's control. If a third party fails to complete the assessment, the platform may generate the report based on collected evidence or extend the collection period, but does not guarantee report completion time. Users authorize the platform to share their test results and personal data with their designated third-party institution for assessment purposes.
Premium reports include a 30-minute online consultation audit by a qualified expert. Expert commentary reflects the expert's personal professional opinion; the platform is not responsible for its content. Scheduling of expert consultations requires coordination between both parties; users should proactively book after payment. If a user fails to cooperate with scheduling within 90 days, the platform may treat the service as forfeited, and paid fees will not be refunded.
Each certified report carries a unique certification number that third parties can verify on the platform. The platform guarantees the authenticity of certification numbers and that report content matches platform records. However, the platform is not responsible for how third parties interpret or use character reports. The platform reserves the right to pursue any forgery or misuse of certification numbers.
Personal data collected by the platform (including name, date of birth, contact information, test answers, etc.) is used only for generating character reports, certification verification, and platform operations. The platform will not sell or rent personal data to third parties without user consent. Users may request to access, correct, or delete their personal data at any time. All platform content, including but not limited to test questions, character framework, report design, logos, and text, is protected by intellectual property law. Without the platform's written consent, users may not copy, modify, distribute, or use it commercially. The intellectual property of the VIA Character Strengths framework belongs to the VIA Institute on Character; the platform is only authorized to use it.
The platform reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate any service or feature at any time. If the platform ceases operation, already-generated reports of paid users will not be affected, but the platform does not guarantee continued verification or re-download services. The platform may terminate a user's account and services if the user violates these terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform, its founders, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses (including but not limited to admission failure, job loss, reputational damage, or business losses) arising from the use of platform services. Users expressly acknowledge that the character test and reports are for reference only, and any decisions made based on the reports are at the user's own risk. The platform's total liability is capped at the actual amount paid by the user for the service giving rise to the claim.
The platform reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Amended terms take effect upon publication on the platform. Continued use of platform services after amendments constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any dispute arising from these terms or platform services shall first be resolved through amicable negotiation. If negotiation fails, either party may submit the dispute to the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre for arbitration under its then-effective arbitration rules, with Hong Kong as the seat and Chinese as the arbitration language.
